J.ING met up with actress Edy Ganem, who plays the leading role of Valentina Diaz in the hit Lifetime drama series, Devious Maids. Residing in the posh suburbs of Beverly Hills with her two children and husband Ryan Oehm, Ganem has been busy juggling her life as an actress and recent mother of two when she welcomed her baby daughter to the world in February of 2018.
Ganem has appeared in several notable series such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rob, Entourage, CSI and The Cleveland Show, as well. She’s also starred in the leading role of the feature film, Ana Maria in Novella Land, which earned her a nomination for Best Actress Imagen Award in 2015. In the film, Ganem plays a woman who switches bodies with a famous novella actress, requiring her to essentially adopt two completely different and unique characters. The film was released in select AMC theaters and considered a “future slumber party classic” by critics. Her Devious role had also earned her the same nomination just the year prior.
The Mexican and Lebanese beauty currently has four projects underway and there seems to be no end in sight to the star’s momentum.

J: Nice! What's your favorite place that you love to go with your kids?

Ganem: Outdoor park, mainly.

J: So it's kinda like this

Ganem: Yeah, right here!

J: Give us three tips on how to balance work and family.

Ganem: OK. Don't Think that you have to do it on your own. it's OK to ask for help. And pace yourself. You don't have to do everything. Not by yourself or not everything in one day. And also, be easy on yourself, you know? Everyone's trying their best.

J: What's one thing you regret the most?

Ganem: I can't tell you.

J: What has scared you the most?

Ganem: Having my kids…I didn’t know what to expect. It wasn’t THAT bad…Painful – but you can do it, if you’re doing it.

J: What means the most to you from Devious Maids?

Ganem: The fans, they were awesome and they make the show. Any show.

J: What has changed after Devious Maids?

Ganem: SO much. I feel like I’m a different person. I learned so much. That was my first big job. And now I have children. I'm doing movies...Yeah! Really good. It brought me really into a good place.

J: Any upcoming new movies?

Ganem: Yes, I have four movies coming. I just shot one at the end of January and then I shot three last year - two in December - so I'll probably keep you guys updated towards the end of this year.

J: That's amazing! That's a lot of work there. What does women empowerment mean to you?

Ganem: It means being there for each other; supporting other women. And helping other women and promoting other women whichever way you can, whether it’s empowering the youth and just inspiring in every way that you can to let girls and women know that we’re so strong and we can do anything we set our minds to.

J: What are the three pieces of advice that you want to give young actors who have just began this career?

Ganem: Don't give up! Believe in yourself. And work really hard! It's not easy - work hard but you will get there.

J: Awesome. Now the last three: How would you describe J.ING?

Ganem: Different. Edgy. And classy.

J: What’s your favorite piece today?

Ganem: Of clothing? I don’t know! I’m loving these jeans because they’re so comfortable and this is what I would wear every day. But I love the pink dress. I felt so..you know, Hollywood.

J: We do love you in the pink dress . Alright! Can can you use three words to summarize today?

Ganem: Fun. I feel like I use the word fun a lot, huh? It was fun. It was exciting. And it was nice. It was nice. It’s nice. Everyone’s nice. You guys are nice.
