Her elegant designs are sold in stores such as Saks, Anthropologie and Nordstrom - and even notable public figures like Michelle Obama have worn her Tracy Reese's creations.
Although her fashion notoriety has brought her all around the world, Reese's hometown of Detroit, Michigan, is where her focus has been targeted as of late - particularly helping young elementary school students realize their creative talents and inspire them to pursue careers in fashion and graphic design.
Reese held a workshop at the Duke Ellington School of Music and Art in Detroit, demonstrating the various avenues in the fashion industry that are available to the students, who each present on large butcher paper their painted original t-shirt designs to Reese, in footage aired on WXYZ Local News in Detroit in a story reported by Kim Russel (source).
"Through my education here in Detroit I actually went to New York, went to Parsons School of Design and they started me sophomore year, not freshman, because my portfolio was too advanced," said Reese during the video interview. "So yay Detroit!" she exclaimed.
